‘’I am looking for the face I had before the world was made’’ W.B. Yeats
A central aim of Buddhist practice is to return to what has always been beyond time and space. In Mahamudra we call it the natural state, or Buddha nature. In Zen it is our ‘original face’. Taking Yeats’ words as our cue, we will re-view the difficulties and misunderstandings that commonly prevent the return to true home.
Included will be a brief discussion on the role of consciousness as creator of illusion.
