Amitabha is the Buddha of Limitless Light and Life who accepts all who call upon him irrespective of their merit or religious or worldly status. He is the Buddha most associated with death and rebirth in the heavenly realm of bliss and tranquillity, Dewachen (Sukhavati).
 
Devotees practice this Sadhana to cultivate faith and aspiration for rebirth there because it is an ideal environment for spiritual growth; the path to enlightenment is harmonious and obstacles minimized. The entire realm is focused on the attainment of enlightenment for the inhabitants.   
 
This sadhana is also recommended for assisting beings just after death to continue their spiritual path.
 
Empowerment is only necessary if participants wish to do the visualisations.
